Hello, I am Prof Dr Pınar Topcu Yılmaz, an ophthalmologist with a particular interest in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. I earned my medical degree from Hacettepe University School of Medicine between 1996 and 2002. I then completed my residency in Ophthalmology at the same institution from 2002 to 2007.
In 2008, I successfully passed the European Board of Ophthalmology examination and was awarded the Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) title, which reflects internationally recognized standards of excellence in ophthalmology.
Between 2008 and 2009, I completed a Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, Wilmer Eye Institute in the United States—one of the world’s leading ophthalmology centers. During this time, I received advanced training in:
This international experience significantly shaped my clinical approach to managing complex pediatric eye conditions and performing strabismus surgery.
After returning to Türkiye in 2010, I completed my government service at Diyarbakır Obstetrics, Gynecology and Pediatrics Hospital.
Between 2013 and 2015, I worked at Konya Training and Research Hospital.
From 2015 to 2019, I served as the Chief of the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Unit at
Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital, 1st Eye Clinic.
In 2019, I joined Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology,
where I was appointed as Assistant Professor. Since December 2019, I have been seeing my
patients in our private clinic together with Prof. Dr. E. Cumhur Şener. I have recently (2026)
been appointed as Professor in Atılım University Faculty of Medicine, Department of
Ophthalmology.
