Lökokori is the white light reflection coming from the pupil. It is very important to detect leukocoria early because it is associated with life-threatening diseases in children or those that can lead to permanent vision loss if not detected early.
The main causes of leukocoria include:
• Cataract
• Persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous
• Retinoblastoma
• Coats disease
• Retinopathy of prematurity
• Choroid coloboma
